Useful Gnome-shell extensions
In Gnome 3, gnome-shell is used for displaying the top bar. The widgets can be installed online from http://extensions.gnome.org. After installation, the configurations can be set by visiting http://extensions.gnome.org/local. On local host, the command gnome-shell-extension-prefs is used for configuration. At present, the extensions I use are:
Advanced Settings in UserMenu: Show Advanced Settings (Gnome Tweak Tool) in UserMenu
Alternative Status Menu: Replaces GNOME Shell Status Menu with one showing Suspend/Hibernate and Power Off as separate items
Applications Menu: Add a category-based menu for applications.
Caffeine: Disable the screensaver and auto suspend
Panel-Docklet v14: This extention represents all opened windows as Icons in a panel. There are a lot of possibilities for customization. It can be used as a docklet, panel or as anything else you create. It also supports multiple screens, workspaces, window-titles, favorites, dragging...
Places Status Indicator: Add a menu for quickly navigating places in the system.
Show Desktop Button: Places a button to the left of the Window List to hide all windows, and the overview when active, and show the current desktop.
Weather: A simple extension for displaying weather information from several cities in GNOME Shell
Workspace Indicator: Put an indicator on the panel signaling in which workspace you are, and give you the possibility of switching to another one.
