Cosmetic Dental Procedures Are Coming

Cosmetic dentistry usually refers to specific services that are aimed at improving the appearance of teeth and various dental aspects (such as bite and gums). The term "cosmetic" gives you the idea that this generally involves treating the aesthetic aspect of dentistry.

Cosmetic dental procedures incldue:

Whitening

This is also known as "bleaching" and it is exactly what it sounds like. Dentists can address stains or discolorations to whiten and brighten your teeth. A few people cannot undergo this procedure though so it would be best to consult with your local dentists first.

Bonding

This process involves bonding tooth-colored materials to your tooth to repair or improve the appearance of your teeth. This is usually done on teeth that are very badly stained, chipped, or heavily damaged.

Shaping

This process is also known as "enamel shaping". A dentist can change the shape and form of your tooth by removing some of the enamel or filing it down. It is a painless procedure and the effects are noticeable immediately.

Veneers

Veneers are thin custom-made shells that are made of porcelain or a similar composite material. They are cemented to the front part of your tooth and is usually used to straighten slightly crooked teeth, fill up spaces between teeth, or fixed chipped teeth.

Crowns

Also known as "caps", crowns are made of porcelain or acrylic that is fused to metal in order to withstand strong biting pressure. Just like veneers, these are custom-made and used to treat severely decayed teeth, teeth that have had hefty fillings, or fix broken teeth.

Implants

These are specially designed metal devices that were meant to replace missing teeth. They‘re commonly made out of titanium and placed into the jawbone through surgically in the same position as a missing tooth. Implants are permanent and serve as a tooth root that anchors crowns or dentures.

Fillings

Dentists now use high density, advanced composite plastic or porcelain materials to supplant tooth structure that has been badly decayed. Unlike the out-of-date and unsightly metal fillings of the past, these modern materials look, feel, and function just like natural teeth and even bonds directly on your teeth enamel. A good dentist can apply filling so well that no one will be able to tell your tooth has filling.
